Cylinder Gardening is a school gardening program available to elementary schools, home schools, afterschool programs and clubs in Harris County.
Due to overwhelming responses, priority for supplies will be given to students in the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. Delivery will be provided only for groups with 20 or more students. Groups with fewer than 20 can pick up their supplies at the AgriLife Extension office.
Remember, the only cost to you is the potting soil. In the spirit of the “3 R’s,” please reuse cylinders from previous years, and only order sufficient new cylinders for your needs. Everything else will be provided, including a Master Gardener Volunteer Mentor assigned to your school. This person will be available by telephone or by appointment to help with your questions.
If you are a teacher or parent leader of one of these groups and would like to register your group forms can be completed on your computer then submitted by clicking the submit button in the top right corner of the page window. Alternatively, the form can be saved to your computer then e-mailed .
The Deadline to register is January 22, 2013. Supplies will be available by late February. You can expect to receive your materials and begin gardening before the end of February or as soon as there is no freeze forecast.
